ECTV – City of Edwardsville

Volunteers are needed to:
Operate cameras, Call play-by-play (for a variety of sports), Assist ECTV personnel, Develop new programs, And much more
To become a volunteer, simply come by the ECTV office (at City Hall) and let the staff know you are interested in volunteering some of your time. You will be required to fill out a short form for the City, and then we can make arrangements for training on various types of equipment (if necessary). Volunteer hours depend upon availability of volunteer and work schedules & activities at ECTV.

Friends of the Library – Glen Carbon – Adults

The Friends of the Library meet the second Wednesday of each month FOL-scholarship
from 6:30 – 7:30 pm in the Community Room. The Friends are a group of volunteers who share a common belief that the library is important to the intellectual and cultural growth of the community. The members of this non-profit organization work to increase public awareness of all library services and assist in bringing funds to the library for special needs. Friends of the Library – Glen Carbon – Students

The Jr. Friends of the Library meet the first Thursday of each month @ 6:30pm and consist of young adult volunteers (ages 12-18) who meet at the Library to perform community outreach projects. JFOL members organize fund raising activities. The proceeds from the fund raisers are donated to the Library and other charitable organizations that the JFOLs believe are helping to make a difference in our community. They also provide a safe environment within the Library young adults can meet and socialize. Membership forms are available in the Youth Services area.

Hospice Volunteers – Unity Hospice

Are you ready to make a difference? If so, Unity Hospice wants you! Volunteers are needed to visit their terminally ill patients and/or perform office duties. They are also searching for pet companion volunteers with at least a canine good citizen certification. There are no time requirements. They provide opportunities based on your schedule. Social or church groups, families, retirees, and students— all are welcome. There are more than 400,000 hospice and palliative care volunteers working to bring families support and compassion when they’re needed most. Maryville Food Pantry / Grandma’s Attic

The Food Pantry and Grandma's attic are staffed by volunteers from local churches. Volunteers are always needed during operating hours. You can choose your hours, days and tasks. Occasional help is needed to pick up groceries or to help disposing of items no longer needed for resale.

Volunteers are needed to occasionally to pick up bread at the Schnuck’s grocery store in Collinsville on Fridays.
Extra help is always needed to put together special baskets for food pantry clients for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

project AVA seeks a volunteer Director of Fundraising to be responsible for securing new sponsors and donations, through executing fundraising events, developing community relationships and heightening awareness for project AVA.

This volunteer will report to the project AVA Board and work closely with all levels of the project AVA team.

• Work closely with the project AVA board to determine annual fundraising budgets for each chapter and for the overall organization.

• Create and present fundraising proposals to the project AVA Board. These proposals will include anticipated costs, estimated revenue, and profit projections.

Watershed Nature Center

The Watershed Nature Center welcomes enthusiastic volunteers who are committed to maintaining our native habitats and enhancing our community. Volunteers have a direct impact on our mission and goals; they participate in dozens of projects that help to preserve our wetlands, prairies, and forests. We value the skills, abilities, and time of all our volunteers, and hope to provide each one with a rich and rewarding experience.

Restoration Monday's - Late Spring - September
Join an elite group of volunteers that include Master Naturalists and Master Gardners every Monday morning from 9:00 am to 11:00 am s in helping help improve Watershed’s local habitats. Long pants, sturdy shoes required, and long sleeves recommended. Bring gloves & loppers if you have them. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and all minors under 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent/guardian. Contact the Watershed Nature Center office 618-692-7578 with any questions.

Plant Native Species
Occasionally the addition of native plants is necessary to preserve our habitats. We always appreciate the help of anyone with a green thumb.

Remove Invasive Species
Work off some stress, get a great workout, and help maintain our three native habitats, all at the same time.

Do you like to meet people and interact with the public? Greet people, serve refreshments, and help with crafts at one of our events.

Serve on a Committee
