Amazing Grace at Logan Place

We are a faith-based program mentoring at-risk young women in Edwardsville. We seek to provide biblically based support, nutrition and fitness education, and life-skills training. Chicks with Sticks – Knitting at Troy United Methodist Church

Chicks with Sticks is a group of women who meet once a week at Troy United Methodist Church. Our group is not limited to TUMC members. Anyone is welcome to join us. We have grown to be a faithful group of women who gather for fellowship and support, sharing new ideas and patterns, and knit and/or crochet a variety of items for charity. If you don't know how to knit or crochet but would like to learn, we can teach you. We have the supplies needed to get started.

Churches on the Street

We meet every Monday night at 6:00 pm (during the winter) and 6:30 pm during the spring/summer and help those homeless with food, clothing, blankets, toiletries, etc, encouragement, the Word and other practical resources.
We are a faith-based non profit organization. A collaboration of Christian people who love God and believe according to His word that we're to help the poor, the lost and the hurting.
We help not only the homeless and the hurting who crosses our paths but our focus is also human trafficking rescue and restore education and disaster relief.
We represent many churches, denominations, races; The Kingdom.
We believe that the Word of God changes lives and through our own testimonies we're able to positively influence those we come in contact with on the streets.
We believe the great commission to go into all the world and preach the gospel and that includes our own backyard.

Cinderella Affair

The Cinderella Affair, based in Bunker Hill, Illinois, is a 501(c)3 charity to help girls that can’t afford to go to homecoming / prom. We do the girls' hair, makeup, nails, shoes, and jewelry, and we provide food for their day of pampering. We also provide formal photographs for the girls, all free of charge!

We also provide suits/ tuxes and shoes for guys!

Hair dressers, Makeup artist. Also, we look for folks who want to join us in pampering these girls, and for volunteer/ amateur photographers.

We accept donations of prom dresses, shoes, purses, jewelry, makeup, suits/ tuxes, hair accessories, etc. Receipts can be provided on request, for tax purposes.

Faith in Action – Drivers Needed

Faith in Action volunteer activities may include shopping for groceries, providing rides to medical or other appointments, cooking meals, doing light housework, running errands or providing companionship through visiting or phoning. Volunteers may also provide respite care and relief for family caregivers. With the assistance of volunteers, community members with long-term health needs maintain their independence for as long as possible.

Gardens at SIUE

We seek to create a venue of beauty and distinction to support the educational and research components of the University as well as provide a haven for relaxation and enjoyment for all.

On Tuesday mornings from April through October, we welcome community to work with Master Gardeners and Master Naturalists in weeding, planting and watering the 36-acre garden. All tools will be provided.

Groups of 15 or more volunteers (e.g. Scouts, campus and community organizations) may schedule to work together on a specific day. We will plan projects for the group, based on the season of the year and length of time for the work day.

Hospice Volunteers – Unity Hospice

Junior Friends of the Library – Glen Carbon

The Jr. Friends of the Library meet the first Thursday of each month and consist of young adult volunteers (ages 12-18) who meet at the Library to perform community outreach projects. JFOL members organize fund-raising activities. The proceeds from the fund raisers are donated to the Library and other charitable organizations that the JFOLs believe are helping to make a difference in our community. Maryville Food Pantry / Grandma’s Attic

The Food Pantry and Grandma's attic are staffed by volunteers from local churches. Volunteers are always needed during operating hours. You can choose your hours, days and tasks. Occasional help is needed to pick up groceries or to help disposing of items no longer needed for resale.

Volunteers are needed to occasionally to pick up bread at the Schnuck’s grocery store in Collinsville on Fridays.
Extra help is always needed to put together special baskets for food pantry clients for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Mobile Market

We unpack, sort and distribute food to the needy in Granite City on the first Tuesday of every month.

Those coming to volunteer will help unload and sort the pallets of food delivered by the St. Louis Foodbank and will help distribute it beginning at noon. Help is also needed to load up vans and trucks and go distribute food at the second location.

SAK – Serving Area Kids summer lunch program

S. A. K. is a community outreach project which provides much-needed sack lunches to school age children during the summer months in Alton, East Alton and Edwardsville. Children who qualify for free- and reduced-price school lunches during the school year might otherwise go hungry during the summer.

Volunteers may sign up for a single day, or commit to a regular weekly schedule. Lunches are picked up at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Edwardsville to be distributed at locations around town. Background checks are required, and SAK T-shirts will be issued to identify volunteers. Please help us ensure that no child goes hungry this summer in our very caring community!

St. John’s Mission Garden

Since 2012, St. John's(Edwardsville) Mission Garden has been growing vegetables to give away to area food pantries and soup kitchens.

We need people to plant, weed & pick, AS WELL AS transport produce to pantries. We pick four times a week, and picking is scheduled to coordinate with food pantry hours of operation, so that vegetables can be delivered in good condition. You can sign up for a regular picking shift(usually starting in mid-June) or just plan to drop in occasionally. Weeding can always be done on your own schedule!

TWIGS free summer lunch program

TWIGS provides free lunches during the summer for children in our area who would qualify for a free- or reduced-price lunch during the school year.

You can sign up for a single day, or for a regular shift handing out prepared lunches in various locations around the Metro East area. Usual time commitment is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers are required to complete a background check, and TWIGS T-shirts will be issued to identify volunteers.

Watershed Nature Center

The Watershed Nature Center is dedicated to providing environmental education, passive recreation, and enjoyment of native habitats for Edwardsville and surrounding communities.

We welcome enthusiastic volunteers who are committed to maintaining our native habitats and enhancing our community. We need helpers to staff the Welcome Center, facilitate educational programming, and assist with event planning. In addition, we need gardening volunteers every Monday morning from late spring until September, to improve the local habitats by removing invasive species and replacing native plantings.
